Break the silence; damn the dark, damn the light.

Sometimes you wait a really long time before talking about big moments in your life, and sometimes that works out to your advantage. Other times, not so much. This is a not so much for me, as all of my exhalation, elation, and appreciation of Goes Cube’s final show at Union Hall on June 5th has faded a bit over the past few weeks. Damn the silence.

I meant to post about it right away, but instead opted to enjoy some rest and relaxation. Then, before I wanted them to, work and ‘back to normal’ life caught up with me and took over my life as they are wont to do. Now look how long it’s been. TEN YEARS!

Needless to say, our final show of the tour was fan-fucking-tastic. Not only did we get to play with Detachment Kit, not only did we play really well (though I’d humbly not call it one of my best performances of the tour), not only did we sell much merch and have a blast the entire night, but also (most importantly) tons of people showed up (including my parents and so many of our closest friends). There’s nothing quite like playing a homecoming show to a multitude of friendly faces. Thank you so very much to everyone who came out and supported us at that show, or any of the others on the tour. The tour was hard on the three of us (by that, I mean exhausting - in a good way), hard on the van (not in a good way), but entirely worth it. We can’t wait to do it again. In fact, get ready New England: Goes Cube is coming in late July/early August!

So far, we’ve only begun to put our next mini-tour together but I can say with certainty that we’ll be playing The Middle East in Boston, MA on Thursday, July 30th. New York, and all points between NYC and Portland, ME, we’ll be playing sometime that week, so check back for more tour deets soon!

Also, I want to take a moment to give a big public thank you to David and Kenny for inviting me into the Goes Cube nuclear family with open arms, for making the experience so much fun, and for not only being some of the best musicians I’ve played with, but also just all-around great guys. The whole thing has been a dream come true for me… one I’d quite frankly given up on some time ago. Sure, I have been playing music on my own in my apartment with headphones on from time to time over the SIX years it’s been since I last played in a band (a band which I found via Craigslist posting, it was extremely short-lived), but I’d honestly figured I would never really play music in a band again. Now I’m a member of what was already one of my favorite bands, playing with two close friends, and making amazing music. Making, yes making. We’re currently writing new songs… you might even hear one/two of them at an upcoming show. Beleedat, and hopefully I’ll see you at a Goes Cube show very, very soon.

Now listening (I played part of this during most sound checks on tour, cue to 3:04): “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac
